Ascent to Pidurangala Rock

The starting point of the route to Pidurangala Rock is located at the entrance to the Buddhist temple ** Pidurangala Rock Temple **, where you can be transported by fat or by rented scooter on your own. The temple is relatively ** well hidden **, so it is necessary to find out its location well.

Pidurangala Rock Temple is a smaller temple where we haven't seen many monks. In return, there were several believers who went to worship the reclining Buddha, who is located inside an ordinary-looking building, the back of which continues under a rock.

After entering, the ordinary-looking building becomes a magical place full of frescoes with Buddhist figures and the giant reclining Buddha itself. All temples in Sri Lanka are worn without shoes and your knees should be covered.

Next above the temple begin the stairs that lead around the mountain to the top.

When we reach higher altitudes, we come across ruins and an amazing reclining Buddha carved right under a rock overhang. The Buddha is approximately 1,400 years old, and this adds to the mysterious atmosphere of another ascent.

When we manage the last more difficult part of the ascent, we will have a wonderful view of all parts of the world, including the side where the sacred mountain Sigiriya is located.

Table Mountain is like one stone. There are small succulent trees and there may be quite a strong wind. The area of the top of the mountain is unbelievable, one feels like on the Australian mountain Uluru.
