Ascent to Cruz de Gala and Pico Verde

We start the journey at the Fleytas restaurant, which is on the main road TF-82, leading to Santiago del Teide. at the top of the ascent of the road we turn right along a narrow asphalt road (even there you can still leave a car). There is a beautiful view of the Pico de Teide and the Viejo.

On the next ascent, there are views of the top of the island and the Teno Mountains, below which is the town of Santiago del Teide. It's a bit of a hide-and-seek game, because sometimes we're shrouded in fast-moving clouds to be all the more excited and surprised by the new vistas in the event of a sudden clearing.

The asphalt road leads to the top (1347 m above sea level), where there are masts with antenna systems and a fire observation tower. There is an almost circular view from here.

In addition to the Pico de Teide, Pico Viejo and the Teno Mountains, we discover the neighboring island of La Palma above the sea of clouds.

Take a narrow path to the Degollada de la Mesa saddle (1247 m above sea level). It is an abbreviation that cannot be recommended to those who might mind light rock and rock climbing. However, this significantly shortens the road that otherwise bypasses the top of Cruz de Gala from the north.

We are at the top (1318 m above sea level), from which the entire Teno Mountains are in the palm of your hand, and we also observe the neighboring island of La Palma with two mountain ridges, divided by a sea of clouds.

Below us, the Masca gorge, which is a great type for a trek to the ocean, is sinking in the deep shadow.

The village of Masca is a popular locality. Despite the number of tourists, it is worth the trip. However, we descend back to Degollada de la Mesa and take a marked path to the Fleytas restaurant, the starting point of today's journey through the beauties of the Teno mountains.
