Tiny, only seventy-hectare, island attracts with a vision of relaxing and doing nothing for a few days. There's luckily built just one small resort, where there are two nice beaches. It is fortunately possible to swim here even at low tide, what is not always possible at all the beaches. There are other beaches in the south of the island, utterly deserted. A popular local activity is kayaking around the island. The big surprise is that the famous movie Castaway with Tom Hanks starring has only the same name with this island. The film is actually happening on the island Monuriki.

Deserted beach in the south of the islan

Beaches in the south of the island are accessible practically only by water, so it is ideal to get on a kayak, leave the civilization and in a few minutes you can feel almost like Robinson Crusoe :-)

Deserted beach

No living soul, absolute silence. It is almost hard to believe that only a few tens of meters as the crow flies is a busy resort.

Small bay at the resort

Beautiful, relatively shallow cove at the resort is ideal for families with smaller children.

Absolute relaxation

The sun is really stark here. Especially during long kayaking you need to cover your body at least slightly.
