An option that only occurs one day a year
The chamber castle was built by Rack Kobyla from Dvorec in 1412 as a replacement for the conquered Čejchanov castle. In 1525 it was listed as desolate and in this condition it was bought by Jaroslav of Šelmberk. Jaroslav was the highest chamberlain – hence the name Chamber Chamber. In 1554, Jan of Valdštejn acquired the castle. which rebuilt it into a Renaissance chateau. After that, the castle was rebuilt many times in its current form. Now there is a training and education center of the Ministry of Defense.
Castle Garden
The castle is surrounded by a small but cozy garden. The local dominants include trumpet-shaped catalphae and large recumbent junipers.
Entrance gate
The walls of the entrance gate are covered with memorial plaques with the names of important personalities who visited the chateau. Nowadays, new boards are no longer placed here for financial reasons.
1st courtyard
In the 1st courtyard there is an entrance to the back garden, but also historical cannons borrowed from the military museum in Lešany.
Castle chapel
In the northern wing of the castle there is a rococo chapel of St. The trinity, which was rebuilt into its current form in 1758.
Chapel interior
Rococo style chapel with three altars. There is an organ on the cure from which this photo was taken, the functionality of which we could see, because in our tour group there was a gentleman who was able to play them very beautifully :)
History vs. present
Some large halls were divided by partitions for greater functionality of the building. For example, one hall is divided into several offices and classrooms.
Lock equipment
The original equipment of the castle has not been preserved for the most part. Now the castle is equipped with functional equipment (for conferences, courses). There are a large number of offices. Some rooms are furnished in a historic style, but the equipment is brought from elsewhere.
The original furnace
On the ground floor of the castle we can see a historic furnace.
Trophies
In most of the castle corridors we can see hunting trophies, whether domestic or exotic game.
Unconventional painting
In the rooms that today serve as the offices of leaders, we can admire the non-traditional original painting. The painting is supposed to give the impression that draperies are hung here, which in this case seems really realistic.
Where else can you look?
During the open day, land from the castle across the street, including adjacent buildings, is also accessible. In these places you can refresh yourself while listening to the music ensemble Ondráš.
Military day
The open day is also associated with an exhibition of military equipment near the castle. All this is completed by the flight of Jas-39 Gripen fighters.
Ceyhan's castle
During the event (and beyond) you can also visit the original Čejchanův hrádek. It is located just behind the fence of the castle grounds. During the open day, the path is marked and it is possible to walk through the normally inaccessible castle grounds with tennis courts, where it is possible to try archery with modern bows. Only slight remnants of masonry and terrain signs have been preserved from the castle.
