Seville and its wider surroundings lie mostly in a fertile basin along the Guadalquivir River in the north lined with low mountains. Seville itself is the capital and largest city of Andalusia with more than a million inhabitants. Apart from Seville, which boasts world-famous landmarks such as the world's largest Gothic cathedral with its huge Giralda tower, there are many other historic cities such as Carmona, Ecija, Alcala de Guadaira and Marchena to visit. One of the biggest natural attractions of this area is the seaside national park Doňana. The picturesque Sierra de Aracena and Sierra Norte de Sevilla are also interesting.
