Tour of Buchanan Castle

The castle that many hear about for the first time is located in Scotland near the village of Drymen. Its history dates back to the early 13th century. The original castle burned down in 1852, but the Buchanan family did not give up and had a new castle built on its ashes, which we already know today. This family lived in the castle until 1925. During World War II, it was converted into a Hospital, where Rudolf Hess, who is considered by some historians to be the right hand of Adolf Hitler, was also treated. It happened in 1941. After the war, a military school was built here. After the roof was removed in 1954, when it happened to pay taxes, so that the building could be exempted from taxes, and the castle began to crumble and overgrow. This creates a breathtaking environment that can be scary for some. On the walls you can see the original paneling and for those who are not afraid, it is possible to find still decorated fireplaces. The place is fenced and you can only get here through a hole in the fence.

Other parts of the castle are ruined and often used by locals to build their own houses.

There is a ban on entry. The place is becoming more and more desolate, this can be seen also thanks to the sunken ceilings, where fallen beams can be seen.
