Nice connector of tourist trails
If you don´t want to return from Fitz Roy or Cerro Torre the same way, you can use this nice junction of paths leading along the lagoons Madre and Hija. If you set off early in the morning and you have enough energy, you can unite these two trips by this tourist trail together. Along the way, you'll admire both these two beautiful lakes and nice views of Cerro Fitz Roy. But count with about two hours.
Fitz Roy
Not far from the camp Poincenot starts this popular connector of main tourist routes to the most beautiful local mountains Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. The first fifteen minutes of this seven kilometer long route you have incredible views of Fitz Roy.
Lagoon Madre
Over time, the spike of Fitz Roy begins to disappear behind a ridge and the path leads through the woods quite far from the lagoon Madre (733 m asl).
Lagoon Hija
After going around lagoon Madre the path finally approaches the water. Laguna Hija (747 m asl) has also a small photogenic islet.
View from the lagoon Hija
Views from the lake Hija are beautiful. It is an ideal place for a break and snack.
Nameless lake
At the unnamed lake at the southern end of the lagoon Hija is marked on the map the path to another lagoon Capri. But it is certainly not very trodden.
Patagonian forest
The path rises gradually to about 780 meters asl and then drops sharply through the forest by 200 meters lower to the vast plain near Cerro Torre, where it connects to another main path leading from Chalten.
Cerro Torre
After descending through the forest you are rewarded with stunning view of Cerro Torre. According to time, weather and your energy you can still go to the lagoon Torre (about 1 hour) or go back to Chalten.
