Lake Neusiedl is a popular holiday destination. In addition to walking and swimming, cycling is one of the most popular activities. The local bike paths are well maintained and marked. Their length is 138 kilometers and they also take their bikes on ferries across the lake.

A paradise for cyclists

The landscape is practically completely flat, so it is also suitable for less able cyclists and children. Pleasant safe trails lead around numerous vineyards and wetlands. Along the bike paths there are rest areas with observation towers and labels. Due to the rather warm climate, there are drinking fountains on many of them. Nevertheless, it is wise to have a supply of water.

Bird watching

Most of the shores are densely overgrown with reeds, which is the nesting place of many species of waterfowl. In addition, when flying from Europe to Africa, up to three hundred species of birds take a break here every year. A popular attraction is therefore bird watching in the local bird sanctuary. It is possible to visit small salt lakes and sandy habitats, walk through pastures, local meadows, forests, fields and vineyards.

Free-running horses of Převalský

A great attraction is a herd of free-running horses of Převalský. Unfortunately, they are relatively shy and usually graze further from the trail, so it is necessary to know where to look for them.
