The most photogenic bus stop in the Czech Republic
On the outskirts of the village Němčovice, about 20 km northeast of Pilsen, there is probably the most photogenic and photographed bus stop in the Czech Republic. This stop is officially called Němčovice, Olešná, rozcestí, but it is known as „Pařezová“ because it is inspired by a stump cottage from the fairy-tale animated evening series „Fairy Tales from Moss and Ferns“ by Václav Čtvrtek.
Appearance according to the stump cottage
The appearance of the waiting room is based on the drawings of the artist of the animated series Zdeněk Smetana. The idea for the original appearance of the building came from the local mayor in an effort to attract attention and slow down the surrounding traffic.
Original building
The building with a built-up area of approximately 4 × 5 meters and a height of over 5 meters is built of aerated concrete blocks ground into the required shape of a stump house and the surface is modified into a cracked bark. The large roof is supported by strong oak branches and in accordance with the fairy-tale model, there is also a crooked chimney. The locals played a significant role in the construction.
Grand opening
This non-traditional building was ceremoniously opened on June 2, 2019. On June 25, 2019, the cottage was visited by actress Jiřina Bohdalová, who spoke the characters Křemílek and Vochomůrka in the series and signed the wall in the waiting room next to the painted cuckoo clock.
