The Skaftafell National Park is bordered by the Öræfajökull glacier from the east and Skeiðarárjökull from the west. 1,700 km2 of desolate, low-lying sandurs and higher-lying slopes dotted with wild flowers, alternating sharp mountain ridges and, of course, glaciers. The most accessible part of the park is the Skaftafellsheiði, a plateau protruding between the Skaftafellsjökull glaciers and Morsárjökull, lining the beautiful valley.
