Příbram is a 30,000-strong district town about 50 kilometers south of Prague. It lies at the foot of Brd and is famous for its mining past. It is also a famous place of pilgrimage thanks to the Holy Mountain located south of the center. Other sights of the city include the Ernestinum chateau and the church of St. James the Elder
