The grassy and slightly undulating area of Osland is bordered on the north by the Vatnajökul glacier, whose glacial slides form a beautiful backdrop in nice weather. In the south, the area is surrounded by the waters of the bays of Hornafjörður and Skardfjördur. The east of the area is closed by the jagged rocks of Vestrahorn. The main local center is the fishing town of Höfn. The surrounding green pastures are full of grazing horses and reindeer herds descend here in winter.
