The foundation stone was laid by President Theodor Roosevelt and in 1903 he was at the laying of the foundation stone. Located at the northern entrance. It is the oldest part of Yellowstone National Park and thus became the first main entrance to the National Park. On the gable of the park is the inscription „For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People“. Which in free translation could mean „For the benefit and enjoyment of the people.“
