Mexico City (Ciudad de México) is located in a huge valley on a plateau at 2,250 meters above sea level. It is located in the former capital of the Aztec Empire – Tenochtitlan. It is one of the most populous cities in the world. According to various perspectives it has 9–20 million inhabitants. You can find here many monuments mainly from the colonization period.
