From the southern shore of Lake Köl Ükök, it is not a problem to climb directly up the slope to panoramic views of the lake in several places. In addition, behind a small ridge is a picturesque valley full of flowers. You can combine this walk with a subsequent trip to Lake Köl Tör, or just as a short march before descending back to Kočkor.

Morning in Köl Ükök

The ideal starting point for this walk is the northern end of Lake Köl Ükök. Here is both the opportunity to camp and sleep in a yurt, if it is built here in the season.

In the morning at the yurt

The morning at Lake Köl Ükök is almost as beautiful as the early evenings, and the sun is slowly stirring up herds of animals and herdsmen.

Ascent to the ridge

From the northern edge of the lake, walk about half a kilometer on a footpath along the water before you see such a steep mini valley with a rock high above you. Start climbing here. Beware no way here! After a while, nice views of the lake will begin to open up to you

Panorama of the lake Köl Ükök

After about an hour's ascent from the lake, you will finally reach the top of the rock, from where there is a beautiful panoramic view of the entire lake.

Unexpected meeting

In a relatively deserted area around the lake, you don't have to meet a foot for the whole day, if you go off the beaten path, then unexpected encounters can quite, usually pleasantly, surprise you. From the top rock you can see other alternative, nowhere described destinations of possible hikes. In the distance you can see a travnate saddle, through which you could go at least part of the way back to Kočkor otherwise, or inquire into the Voktuu valley. From the mountain above the saddle, there can also be a very impressive view of the surroundings.

Valley view

From the rock garden you have a nice view far to the southeast, to the valleys continuing behind the lake. The picture on the far left shows a saddle, about 3,500 m above sea level, through which you can get to the valley leading to the village of Kara-Suu (an alternative descent to Kočkor, as opposed to the classic road). The main valley stretches into the distance (it is even more than 11 km from here to the beginning of the valley). Traffic turns the valley leading to Lake Köl Tör, which is the most popular sidetrip in the area.

Valley of flowers

From the rock garden you will have to run only about 20 meters before you reach the carpets of flowers in this picturesque valley. You will almost not even want to tread on that beauty.

Road through the valley of flowers

Through this valley you can go directly to the lake, which is about 200 meters below, or if you plan to continue to the lake Köl Tör, you can traverse the slopes on the lake with constant nice views.
