In central Java, a short distance from the town of Wonosobo you will find a large plateau Dieng, about 2,050 meters above sea level. It is actually the bottom of the caldera of a huge ancient volcano surrounded by younger volcanic cones. The whole area is very fertile, so it is practically cultivated to the last place

How to get to the Dieng Plateau

Road to the ancient caldera

The easiest way to get to the Dieng plateau is from Yogyakarta with a local travel agency. Expect a very long day. The journey itself takes over three hours, although it is only 115 kilometers away

At the crater

Although the best view of this crater is from a height, but the hiking trails right next to the crater are also interesting. It doesn't pay much to go out here, a few victims already have this place.
