Gondogoro trek 9: Also during the final stage of Gondogoro trek is always something to look at. The way descends for a long time along the glacier Gondogoro surrounded by six thousand meters high mountains. Then follows a long walk through typical green oasis among the arid peaks, along which you will get to the last village in this valley – to Hushe.

In the camp Dalsangpa

From the camp Dalsangpa is a nice view of the icefalls flowing from the pass Masherbrum la (5 364 m asl). But this way is not for trekkers the right way to Baltoro valley.

Glacier Gondogoro

The first seven kilometers await you walk along the moraine high above the glacier Gondogoro.

The face of the glacier Gondogoro

The more you approach the end of the glacier, the descent on the moraine is steeper. After several long days you will finally see flowering plants and small trees.

Camp Shaitcho

The last part of the moraine is overgrown with woods, through which you can run down in twenty minutes to the camp Shaitcho (3 400 m asl). The camp is used by both those walking Gondogoro trek backwards, and those who set off for less frequently walked trek along the glacier Tsarak Tse to the couloir of mountains K6 (7 282 m asl) also called Baltistan peak, K7 (6 934 m asl) and Link Sar (7 041 m asl).

At the bridge

The path from the camp leads to the confluence of the rivers, where fortunately is the bridge to the other side. It would be virtually impossible to ford here.

Wild side valleys

From the bridge awaits you to Hushe still about ten kilometers. The main valley is quite wide, small side valleys are wild, impassable and surrounded by sharp peaks.

Behind the shortcut of two valleys

After a while connects also the valley leading from monumental mountain Masherbrum, where you can also optionally take a side trip. From the confluence the river straightens almost as a straight line and its banks are lined with green oasis.

Oasis before Hushe

The closer you are to Hushe, the landscape is greener and the first boxes appear. This inconspicuous valley also leads to the glacier flowing from Mount Honborro Kangri (6 459 m asl).

Hushe

Hushe is like being composed of two worlds – the old part full of low traditional houses and several big modern lodges. Here you can stay overnight or set out the same day in the direction of Skardu and close this beautiful trek.
