Road to the famous rope bridge
Just outside the village of Ballintoy lies the beautiful Larrybane Bay with the famous Carrick-a-Rede cable-stayed bridge. It has made life easier for fishermen for many centuries in their salmon fishing. Today you can take a beautiful walk here and enjoy the local amazing coastline
View of Carrick-a-rede
At the eastern end of the village of Ballintoy, just 300 meters long road turns into a large parking lot built essentially directly on the cliff. Right from here there is a nice view of the walking path that will be waiting for you. The cliff is more than 50 meters high
Views of Sheep Island
In the other direction there is also a tourist path towards the port of Ballintoy. A nice view is on Ovčí ostrov.
Larrybane Bay
After about a kilometer walk, you finally have the whole of Larrybane Bay in the palm of your hand. The local white stone was mined here as early as the Bronze Age
At the rope bridge
A fairly steep descent awaits you from the cliff. but finally you can see the other side, where the coast is perhaps even rougher.
Carrick-a-rede bridge from above
No wonder the Carrick-a-rede cable-stayed bridge is such an attraction – it overcomes a real „hole“ between the island and the mainland.
