Perfect walk with slightly different views than from the riverbank with possibility of relax, a picnic in the park or a visit to a large beer garden. At the same time, this walk can well work as an alternative route to Prague Castle.

Strossmayer Square with St. Anthony chur

The ideal start of this trip is „Štrosmajerák“ – a small square with a busy tram transport. The metro station Vltavska is close to it. It is only about 400 meters to the beginning of Letna orchards from there.

There are beautiful views of the river Vltava from the park – in this picture you can see a small power plant on the islet Stvanice and Vitkov National Memorial in the background. Unpopular Zizkov transmitter rises above this all.

Beer garden in Letna is famous for the most beautiful views of Prague. Summer evenings are usually very crowded here. Nice views are, however, redeemed by the higher price of beer.

Metronome

Metronome alias “time machine” in Letna is a popular tourist stop. There once stood a giant statue of Stalin (the largest group sculpture in Europe, demolished in 1962). Tourists are now having fun by throwing pairs of shoes on the cable, drinking beer and admiring the view of the city.
