The largest monument near Mexico City is pyramid complex Teotihuacan (translation: the place where Gods were born) with two dominant pyramids of the Sun and the Moon and many other interesting buildings. The locality is easily accessible by frequent buses from Mexico City. It is ideal to be here very early in the morning, because there is not so hot and you do not need to push through the crowds of local people. Count at least with three hours for visit if you want to go through also the small local museum and go to the tops of both pyramids.

Path of the Dead

The path of the Dead " Calzada de las Muertas " lead from the entrance. It was once the main “road” of the town. It is long more than 2 kilometers, so some people ride here on a bike to get it shortened. Although Teotihuacán is in relatively high altitude ( 2300 m asl ), “Thick mountain” – " Cerro Gordo " ( 3060 m asl) towering on the horizon exceeds it significantly.
