The Great Mosque was built between 1996 and 2007. It is the largest mosque in the country. It is located on 12 hectares and can hold 41,000 prayers. The mosque has a unique lighting system, designed to be in harmony with the phases of the moon. Bluish-gray clouds are projected on the walls of the mosque and, depending on the phase of the moon, they are brighter or darker.
