On the westernmost island of the island
On the road from Buenavista del Norte, we can get here legally by car only from Monday to Thursday, the remaining three days only until 10:00. Then we have to use the bus, which runs here at hourly intervals for 1, – EUR. The reward is a beautiful view of the coastal cliffs and the neighboring island of La Gomera.
The Giants
We arrive on Thursday after nine o'clock in the morning and catch the last free parking space. The Teno Mountains end at steep high cliffs at their SW edge. Los Gigantes has a nice view from here. There is also a small bay with pebbles, suitable for swimming and snorkeling.
Fishermen
There are several trails around the lighthouse. After one of them we descend to the ocean and watch the local fishermen. In the background, the tops of neighboring La Gomera peek out.
Coast
The trail leading along the NW coast is definitely worth a pleasant walk. We enjoy the ocean, whose waves reach the torn volcanic material.
Vegetation
Another benefit of this route is the number of different succulents and other plants typical of the area.
Teno
The attractive setting offers many opportunities to capture the westernmost part of Tenerife with its vegetation and mountains.
Extinction
On the way back, perhaps 300 meters from the parking lot, we stop and examine the old crumbling structures, probably the remains of a banana plantation.
