Cable car to Bergkastel
The biggest tourist starting point near Nauders
Only a kilometer and a half south of Nauders is the lower part of the cable car leading to Bergkastel. The cable car will take you here from 1,400m to 2,170m. This will take you to the most visited tourist starting point in the vicinity of Nauders. It's even more lively here in the winter because it's the local ski center.
View from the cable car to Nauders
There is a huge parking lot next to the cable car, where a lot of motorhomes gather and spend the night here for free. From the bottom building of the cable car there is a very beautiful view of Nauders including the castle.
View to Italy
The view in the opposite direction is not so breathtaking. In the background you can see the massif Cima Undici – Elferspitze (2,926m) rising above Lago di Resia
View of Piz Lad (2,808m)
One of the most beautiful mountains in the vicinity of Nauders is undoubtedly Piz Lad (2,808m), they have a pyramid shape.
Nauders deep in the valley
As everything is relative, when you climb to Nauders from the river Inn you feel like you are going up a real hill. On and after a short cable car ride, Nauders is so far below you that it's hard to believe that it's also high up.
Piz Lad ridge
The higher you are, the more you realize that Piz Lad is a pyramid only from the view from Nauders. On the other side, it's just the end of a long ridge.
Two thousand for Nauders
From Bergkastel you can go to a whole range of peaks. None of them, however, has more than three thousand meters above sea level.
Bergkastel (2,170m)
Finally we are at the destination station. It is vast here and there are also possible activities for smaller children. Apart from the many hikes that you can take from here, a popular activity here is to go down on a mountain bike.
