Walk through the karst canyon
There are about 1000 caves in the Moravian Karst. Tourists are especially attracted by the abyss Macocha and the Punkva Cave. Pustý žleb is a canyon several kilometers long, which leads from the town of Sloup in the north and south towards Skalní mlýn. It is full of tourists in season, but in winter you will hardly meet anyone here. We chose the route from Nové Dvůr to Těchov to go through a less common variant of the tour.
Above the gutter
From Blansko we take bus no. 233 to the Vavřinec – Nové Dvory stop. From here, a green marked hiking trail leads. From that, however, after about 100 meters, we turn left and follow the path that will take us after crossing the field into the forest to the edge of Suchý žleb.
At the bottom of the canyon
After a short steep descent, we find ourselves at the bottom of the canyon. A narrow asphalt path leads here. Above us is the wall of the Black Chimney rock formation. We will set off slightly downwards to the south.
Road through the canyon
Smaller caves and various karst rock formations appear on both sides of the road. Some caves are even freely accessible. The surrounding canyons invite you to explore the so-called open terrain.
Punkva
The empty gutter is without surface water almost in its entire length. Miraculously, the river Punkva appears from the ground with its spring, only to disappear again in a Little Fall of Punkva, and then reappeared and lead us to the Rock Mill.
Exit
After Skalní mlýn, we turn right from the access road along a green marked path and ascend a relatively steep slope to the village of Těchov. From here we return by bus No. 233 back to Blansko.
