Travelling by plane

Lucie Markova Wrote 02.02.2013:

Most tourists arrive to the country at the international airport in Ciudad de México. From there they can continue with any local airline to any regional metropolis. Other international airports are in Cancun, Acapulco, Veracruz and a few other cities. Domestic aviation: The fastest transport, but the prices are at least twice higher than when traveling by bus. Airlines network is wide, but there is not direct connection between all airports (there are over 60 of them in Mexico). The connection is often with a transfer in Mexico City.

Traveling by train

The privatization of the rail network basically meant the end of the train service, because the majority of personal lines were canceled.

Travelling by bus

Lucie Markova Wrote 02.02.2013:
  • The quality depends on the type of bus – the luxurious ones are very comfortable. They are often very air conditioned, so do not forget to pack also warmer clothes.
  • Local buses called camión: cheapest option.
  • Collectivos – vans or minibuses running along fixed routes. They are also cheap, but often uncomfortable.

Taxi

Lucie Markova Wrote 02.02.2013:
  • There are plenty of them and they will usually find you in places popular with tourists as soon as you get off the bus.
  • It is usually possible to negotiate the price.
