The city of Wildeck Castle
Zschopau (Šopava) is a town located on the river of the same name. It is interesting for tourists mainly with its magnificent Wildeck castle. Apart from it, there is also a nice town hall and the church of St. Martin
Panorama of Zschopau
If you come to the city from the south, through the valley of the river Zschopau, it is ideal to park on Banhofstrasse, where parking is free and the center is just a short walk away. The panorama of the city is dominated by Wildeck Castle.
Zschopau river
The river Zschopau wraps around the city from the south and east. It springs on the northern slope of Fichtelberg, just a short distance from the Czech border. There is a hiking trail along it, which passes a number of nice castles and chateaux.

Courtyard of Zschopau Castle
Just a few meters behind the bridge over the river, a hiking trail turns directly to the castle. The courtyard is large, but rather than the classic visitors to castles and chateaux, we have seen cyclists stopping here as part of a ride through the river valley.
Bergfried
The center of the original castle for German castles was the classic massive tower „Bergfired“ here called Dicker Heinrich – Tlustý Jindřich
Altmarkt and Neumarkt
The Altmarkt and Neumarkt squares are right next to the city center
City Hall in Zschopau
