In the easternmost part of the Giant Mountains, Rýhorech, 4 km west of Žacléra is the picturesque Rýhorská bouda. Cars are not allowed to come to the hut, so it is less visited. Tourists and cyclists therefore find here a peaceful starting point for trips to the relatively untouched surroundings.

History

The shed was built in 1926 as a modern hospitality facility. After the war, the shed came under the national administration of the Czech Tourist Club and was later taken over by the Sokol team Vzlet. Then it was owned by the company Interhotel Krkonoše, and in 1976 it was bought by KRNAP. The KRNAP administration had it extensively renovated and established the Krkonoše Center for Ecological Education here.

Surroundings

The hut is located on the top of Rýhor, which is the easternmost island of the Krkonoše Mountains. There are beautiful views of the surrounding hills from the meadow in front of the cottage. Only about 500 meters south-east of the cottage begins the nature area Dvorský les. There are interestingly twisted old beech trees in it, which is due to the taste of cattle in the 19th century, the harsh climate with a high snow cover, and also the altitude of this forest, which is the upper limit of the occurrence of beech in our territory. The forest here is not modified in any way, except for occasional plantings in places where the forest does not regenerate naturally.

View

About 100 meters north of Rýhorská bouda, on the spot where the first building on top of Rýhor was built in 1892, there is a beautifully landscaped viewpoint. It is possible to sit on the remains of the foundations of Max's original cottage and enjoy the views of the eastern Giant Mountains. Unfortunately, the view is already quite limited by the surrounding trees.
