A walk along the Strela River
The town of Plasy is mainly known for its magnificent monastery. At the same time, it is located in the picturesque valley of the Střela River, and various hikes can be undertaken here. Directly from the city, it is also relatively close to the small Hradišťský waterfall, where we will also go.
Excessive nutria
From the center of Plas, we will first go around the pond. In its northern shores, nutria have made burrows, which are spreading throughout the Czech Republic as an invasive species. Of course, they are interesting to children and they like to feed them, which is not good.
Plasy natural swimming pool
At the very western end of the pond is a small natural swimming pool. So if you will be here on warm summer days, you can take a bath and refresh yourself.
At Strela
From the natural swimming pool, we will continue along the well-trodden path across the meadow to the Střela river. Here we will join the green hiking trail. Soon we will come to the bridge, where you can cross to the other side (there is a playground and refreshments of the local sports club)
Along the Great Meadow
We are still following the green tourist route. On one side we have the Střela Valley and on the other the really vast Velka Louka. Its name really does not lie.
Railway bridge
The path then moves away from the river and bypasses the truly gigantic children's summer camp Máj. The camp ends at the bridge over the river. However, we will pass under this railway bridge and immediately behind it we will start to climb the hill.
Views over the canyon
Now begins the most beautiful part of this route. In these places, the projectile makes a large meander around the rock promontory. Along the way there are several viewpoints from the rocks on the surrounding landscape.
Picturesque Střely canyon
We are entering a truly picturesque area. Along the banks of the river there are holiday cottages from a time long gone.
The rickety bridge over the Strela
Another point of interest is this home-made bridge across the river, which can cause quite strong concerns for some individuals.
The way to the waterfall
The path from the footbridge to the side valley that leads to the waterfall is no longer even 300 meters. Follow the unmarked footpath around the recreational facilities.
Hradišť waterfall
Hradišťský waterfall is located in such a romantic cleft, but it does not have much water. In the summer it's basically just a wet wall. During the rains or in the spring after the snow melts, it's bigger here, but don't expect miracles.
