České Budějovice has almost one hundred thousand inhabitants and is thus the largest city in South Bohemia. The city is famous for its Budvar beer and the beautiful square of Přemysl Otakar II, which is one of the largest in the Czech Republic. The most important monuments can be found in its vicinity

One of the biggest monuments of České Budějovice is the majestic Baroque town hall from the 18th century in the southwest corner of the square.

The Včela Palace, built in the southeast corner of the square, competes with the town hall for the most beautiful building in České Budějovice.

The walk still leads us around the water at the western end of the historic center of České Budějovice. We pass the Elephant Gate, the Round Bastion and the Dominican Monastery. Nice thanks to the surrounding trees is the alcove chapel of St. Jan Nepomucký. Finally, the interesting hotel Budweis will appear in front of us

The Black Tower and the Cathedral of St. Nicholas

We will end this basic circuit through the historical center of České Budějovice at the dominant feature of the city – the Black Tower and next to the standing Cathedral of St. Nicholas. It is definitely worth climbing the tower and see Budějovice nicely from the top
