Během posledních pár tisíc let změnil člověk tuto planetu doslova k nepoznání. Sice běžná, zvlášť průmyslová, zástavba moc krásy nepřináší, ale najdou se zde naštěstí tisíce úchvatných, většinou historických staveb, kvuli kterým se vyplatí cestovat. Za navštívení stojí nejen velkolepé památky dávných civilizací, ale i impozantní středověké katedrály, hrady a zámky či monumentální stavby novověku.

Města – to je už na první pohled největší známka lidské činnosti na této planetě. Najdete tu nekonečné betonové megapole. ale i krásná historická města stále obehnané středověkými hradbami. Ať jste cestovatel jakéhokoliv zaměřením, městům se prostě nevyhnete.

Lidé už od nepaměti věřili v různé bohy a sdružovali se v církvích. Díky tomu máme po celém světě úžasné církevní stavby v podobě katedrál, mešit či různých starodávných pyramid či chrámů.

Němým svědkem tisíciletí lidských válek a násilností jsou tisíce hradu rozesetých po celém světě. Nyní tak můžeme obdivovat monumentální úchvatné stavby, které měli chránit před agresory.

K nejkrásnějším a nejhonosnějším stavbám, které na světě můžete spatřit, patří rozhodně zámky a paláce. Už odedávna dávaly králové a bohatí feudálové na odiv svůj nesmírný majetek. Nyní je většina těchto úchvatných paláců přístupná veřejnosti a na svých cestách do spousty z nich určitě zavítáte.

Starověké památky dýchají na cestovatele tajemnou atmosférou a dávnými časi, proto jsou asi výrazně oblíbenější než dnešní sklenění a betonoví obři. Dávno zmizelé civilizace nám tu zanechaly krásné památky, které nezbývá než obdivovat.

Aztécké památky najdete pouze na uzémí dnešního Mexika, kde říše od 14. do 16. století existovala. Největší památkou jsou pyramidy Slunce a Měsíce v Tenochtitlanu. Zajímavá je i pyramida los Guachimontones ve státu Jalisco. Pěkný je i chrám v Xochicalco.

Geshe Michael Roach is a Princeton University graduate who spent 25 years in a Tibetan monastery and is the first American to be awarded the degree of Geshe, or Master of Buddhism. He utilized his monastery training to help build a major New York corporation which reached $250 million in annual sales, and was sold to super-investor Warren Buffett in 2009. Michael used a large portion of his business profits, and support from companies like Hewlett Packard, to found a 25-year effort to train and pay Tibetan refugees to input thousands of their endangered ancient books and make them available online for free.
