There are three interesting areas with the possibility of nice hikes in Uganda:
Volcanoes in the east of the country near the border with Kenya:
- The best known and most accessible is the massif of Mount Elgon with the highest peak Wagagai (4 321 m asl). In the summit crater grow rare endemic plants such as huge lobelia. Another nice place is Sipi waterfall
- Mt. Kadam (3 068 m asl) located further to the north
- Mount Moroto (3 084 m asl)
Ruwenzori (Rwenzori) alias Monthly Mountains is the third highest mountain range in Africa with small glaciers
- Uganda's most famous trek to the highest peaks of this mountains range – Margherita (5 109 m asl)
Volcanoes on the border of three states Uganda – Congo and Rwanda famous mainly for the mountain gorillas
- Sabyinyo (3 674 m asl): beautiful volcano famous mainly for the fact that there is a border of three states on its top
- Muhavura (4 127 m asl): the highest volcano in the southwest of the country
