The Norwegian Tourist Board takes care of the network of hiking trails and cottages. Usually, however, hiking trails are not so „comfortable“, they are often narrow and rocky trails that lead on steep slopes, snow fields and places that can make many people dizzy. While in other parts of Europe a certain level of security (ropes, chains, railings) is a matter of course, in Norway we do not often encounter these elements. Good sturdy shoes are a must. The direction indicators indicate information about the time required to reach the goal. Experience shows that this time applies only to very able hikers and, of course, without any stops during the trek. On the other hand, no one forbids anyone to move through the open terrain, everything is solely the responsibility of the tourist, his fitness and equipment. A good map and GPS will definitely help.
