Most people travel to Nepal for its mountains and not for architecture. But even so you can see plenty of gems here visit of which can diversify the time before and after the trek. Most of the interesting sights of the country are located in Kathmandu valley. The most beautiful historical town is Bhaktapur only a few kilometers from Kathmandu. The historic center of Kathmandu and other royal town Patan is also worth a visit. Gorkha not far from Manaslu nearly forgotten by tourists. Interesting is birthplace of Buddha Lumbini.

Cities

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Of course, only two cities are important for tourists – the largest and capital city of Kathmandu, and then the tourist city of Pokhara, which is the second largest city. Other large cities are located mainly in the plains in the south of the country on the border with India and have no potential for a visit. Of the smaller cities, Bhaktapur and Gorkha are important due to their sights.

Religious buildings

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

In Nepal, you will come across mainly Hindu or Buddhist monuments. The most important Hindu monument is the Pashupatinah temple built in Kathmandu. Another important building is the Manakama Temple. Typical Buddhist architecture is best seen in the former Mustang kingdom, such as the capital Lo Mantang or Tsarang. The birthplace of Buddha in Lumbini is also nice, where each of the Buddhist countries in the world has its own temple in different styles. However, these temples are mostly modern.

Folk buildings

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

For travelers have the great charm of the original village. Here, of course, the farther away the better. How many times is it enough to get off the Klaisský tourist circuit and in a few kilometers you are in a completely different world.

Bridges

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

In Nepal, you will definitely be interested in the high bridges, which you will use to cross deep canyons or wide mountain rivers. Crossing these windswept bridges is a typical Nepalese experience.

Technical monuments

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

Among the technical monuments that are interesting not only for the photographers are Nepalese airports. Watch the aircraft landing in Lukla, for example, it is always a great experience.

Lookout towers

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:

In Nepal, with lookout hills at every turn, you won't come across many classic lookout towers. Probably the most famous is the flat top of Poon Hill. Observation platforms are also at the top of Sarangkot.
