Festivals and Celebrations

Petr Liška Wrote 20.01.2013:
  • Dashain: The most important feast is Dashain, when buffaloes and billy goats throats are slit during the festival. Most towns color by blood of the victims. Dashain will be held in October 9–13, 2016 i.e. during the main hiking season. So be careful, because it is very difficult to arrange anything during these days!
  • Diwali: Like in India an important feast is Diwali (Tihar). It's a feast, during which small lamps Divas are lit in the evening. Diwali is celebrated in October or November, every time in different days, so it is wise to check the exact day of the feast in advance. Next Diwali will be started on 28. October 2016

The most important museum in the country is the National Museum in Kathmandu, which is also housed in an architecturally interesting building.
