Typical national cuisine, traditional and frequent fiestas ('feasts "), slower and relaxed lifestyle, strong religious belief, high degree of coherence, typical markets forming a mixture of colors, flavors and aromas, music reminiscent of Spanish blended with native american rhythms and omnipresent consciousness of rich history – all this forms the part of the culture of Mexico. Mexicans are very cheerful and kind people. They love celebrations – they find opportunity to celebrate in any situation. I often say that they do not live to work but work in order to live. They find the meaning of life elsewhere: in good food, unique music, love and family. There is almost no middle class – people are very poor on one hand and the other groups are wealthy citizens.Life in the village and the city differ significantly – in the villages are mostly still maintained ancestral rites, while in cities people follow western consumerism.

  • For Europeans is also a symbol of Mexico a sombrero. However, not so many people wear that hat here.
  • For Mexico are typical brightly colored swinging nets called hammocks. They are especially popular in Yucatan.
  • An interesting old ritual is Voladores. Five colorfully clad men climb to roughly 30-meter high pole. One of them stays on top of the platform and plays here a drum and flute. Others are run down to the ground on ropes, their weight causing unreeling the rope and driving the platform. Ritual can be seen in the park in front of the National Anthropological Museum in the capital or in El Tajin.

  • Bullfighting: Non-traditional activities may include a visit to bullfighting arena in Mexico City or Charrería – a rodeo during which cowboys show off their horsemanship.
