Jordan is not generally considered (which is a great pity) as a tourist destination, but you will find absolutely great routes through wadi gorges leading from the plateau to the Dead Sea depression almost two kilometers below. For example, Wadi Guweir, the surroundings of the village of Dana, Wadi Hasa, Wadi bin Hammad, Wadi Mujib

Hiking circuits & Trekking

For most visitors to Jordan is the largest tourist experience a day walk in the rock town of Petra. But this country offers surprisingly very beautiful hikes in the wild canyons and amazing desert mountains.

  • Petra for hikers: If you have seen only one notorious view from here on rock tomb Treasury, you will be very surprised at how large it is and how many trails you can walk. It is definitely not possible to see everything thoroughly in just one day. In addition, next to a similar, slightly smaller location, Little Petra, which is also worth to exploration.
  • Wadi Rum: Due to the great desert heat is this area most of the year quite unfriendly for hiking and it seems wiser to experience it during long jeep rides. But who wants to ascend the highest mountain in Jordan – Jebel Umm Adaami (1830 m asl) or explore the steep ravines in the local mesas, there is nothing else left but to go on foot.
  • Wadi Mujib alias „Grand canyon“ of Jordan is an interesting reserve with stunning views of this vast canyon.

Difficulty of hiking trails

Petr Liška Wrote 04.05.2013:

Due to the geographical location of the country, the greatest difficulty for most tourists on the hike is the great heat that prevails here from mid-spring to mid-autumn. You may encounter „technical“ problems if you set out to explore the local canyons, where you may encounter high rocky steps without rope insurmountable.
