There are a variety of festivals in different parts of India, so there is a relatively good chance to attend some during your travels.

  • Kumbh mela the most monumental festival in the world is Maha kumbh mela in Allahabad, which takes place once every 144 years. Smaller version is kumbh mela, during which millions of people meet and it takes place once every 12 years.
  • Buddhist festivals: They take place mainly in Ladakh. Renowned as Ladakh festival culminating with great polo match
  • Diwali: The best known holidays are Diwali, a five-day festival, during which small lamps Divas are lit in the evening. Next Diwali begin November 7, 2015.
