Hungary Hiking

Unlike to neigboring countries, most tourists do not come to Hungary for hiking. But there are definitely some hiking possibilities – mainly in the north and northwest of the country.

- The highest mountains of the country is Matra with the peak Kekesi (1 014 m asl). Almost up to its top leads the road, so the ascent is certainly not difficult.
- There is an interesting volcanic massif Borzsony with countless number of hiking trails. The highest peak here is Csovanyos (938 m asl)
- The third major mountain range is The Bukk Mountain („The Beech mountain“) near Miskolc
