Motorway: The most important Austrian motorway is the A1 (Vienna – Linz – Salzburg and then on to Munich). The main starting point to the beautiful Salt Chamber. The A2 (Vienna – Graz – Klagenfurt – Villach) is more important for holidaymakers heading to the countries of the former Yugoslavia to the sea. But it is also a good starting point to the southern limestone mountains. The A9 Pyhrn (Wels – Liezen – Graz) is a starting point for both the Low Tauern and the limestone Ennstaler Alps. The A10 Tauern (Salzburg – Villach) is interesting, from where there are starting points for limestone massifs south of Salzburg, for example Dachstein, as well as for the Hohe and Low Tauern. In summer, however, expect big traffic jams thanks to tourists heading south to the sea. The A12 (Kufstein – Innsbruck – Landeck) is a Tyrolean motorway, very interesting for mountaineers – a starting point to the Zillertal, Stubai and Ötztal Alps. A13 Brenner (Innsbruck – Bolzano). A short but extremely important link between Austria and Italy. Starting point to the beautiful Stubai Valley. Motorway signs: All Austrian motorways are tolled. It is necessary to have a motorway stamp purchased (you simply buy it at petrol stations, for example). Toll stamps are sold for the following periods: 10 days (8.7E), bimonthly (25.3E) and annual (84.4E) Toll tunnels: In addition, most long motorway tunnels are tolled: on the A9 Bosruck (5E) and Gleinalm (8 , 5E), A10 Tauern (5.5E) and Katschberg (5.5E), A11 Karawanken (7E), S16 Arlberg (9.5E)

Car & bus trips

Petr Liška Wrote 06.04.2013:

Austria is a very popular destination for bikers who climb beautiful mountain passes here. This also applies to classic cars. This method is also ideal for families with small children. You can enjoy beautiful mountain views without much effort. Unfortunately, most of these roads are tolled by a relatively high toll. Highest mountain asphalt road: Ötztaler Gletscherstrasse (2,829 m above sea level): the highest asphalt road in Austria with the highest road tunnel in Europe. Kaunertalstrasse: leads directly to the glacier up to 2,750 m above sea level Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse: one of the most famous, highest and most beautiful mountain roads in all of Europe with magnificent views of the Hohe Tauern. Sightseeing boat trips

Petr Liška Wrote 06.04.2013:

The most sightseeing cruises are, of course, the second longest European river in the Danube. So-called romantic cruises are held here. Great cruise on the Danube: it runs not only through Austria, but also through Hungary, Slovakia and Germany. The stops are mostly in the following places: Budapest, Bratislava, Vienna, Dürnstein, Melk, Linz, Passau, Regensburg, Kelheim.
