Lodhi Gardens (sometimes called also Lodi) is one of the few pleasant green oases in the middle of hot Delhi south of India Gate. They are not as famous as the tomb of Humayun and Safdarjung that are not too far away, but even so they are definitely worth a visit. You almost do not meet a living soul here and in addition, there is not entrance fee.

Considering Indian conditions, Lodhi Gardens is another very clean and pleasant place. The air is here also more breathable than in other sights thanks to the vegetation. Except for the lakes and nice vegetation it is also possible to see here several interesting tombs.

Tomb of Muhammad Shah

Just a short walk from the entrance is a nice tomb of Muhammad Shah surrounded on all sides by palm trees. The architecture is almost identical with Isa Khan's tomb situated in the complex of gardens at Humayun's tomb.

Tombs and small mosque

Gardens are almost deserted compared to the rest of the city, so you can enjoy heavenly peace also here in Delhi.

Birds in Lodhi Gardens

You can see in the educational signs that the gardens are not only a paradise for lovers of peace and nice architecture of Mughal period, but also for ornithologists and photographers with telephoto lenses. You can see here a lot of bird species.
