Day 7
Arrival to Reine and hike to the Reinebringen mountain
We wake up to a beautiful sunny morning, pack our things, and set off to another destination, which is the fishing village of Reine in Lofoten. Here we want to take the beautiful photos that we had as motivation on the PC desktop. The most beautiful should be from the mountain Reinebringen where we want to go as soon as the weather improves a bit, because it is still raining. The place is really very mountainous, so it is difficult to find a place to camp. Unfortunately, even the two nearest campsites do not offer the possibility of camping, so we decide to stop at a rest stop directly below the Reinebringen mountain. Here, for the first time, we see wooden fish dryers on which cod and traditional red houses built on stilts are dried right by the water. The traditional red color of the houses, which we see everywhere, is a remnant of the times when the houses were painted with cod fat and blood. Fortunately, modern paints have already penetrated here today. It's after six o'clock in the evening and finally better weather so we can go. According to the navigation, the journey should take about 20 minutes, so we'll see. The road is nicely marked and paved. The first third of the journey is mainly in the mud and on the stony stairs. Here you will come across a first aid kit and a sign warning that you are continuing at your own risk. Then the road is very steep and steep. We climb here like some two chamois, almost four. A bunch of Swedes is in front of us, so we follow them. Here you need to be really careful if you climb behind you like this, because it happened to us that they blew a few boulders at us and we had something to do to avoid it. It was more physically demanding and dangerous, the journey certainly not only twenty minutes on foot, as the navigation promised. We went for at least an hour. We did it! Yeah! I'm so proud of us. The reward for this dangerous and challenging journey is a beautiful thick milk spread over Reine, so we see absolutely nothing and everything is incredibly cold. Never mind, we will wait and we will definitely see a beautiful view. After about an hour, the fog dissolves a bit, so we see at least the lake and part of Reine, so we take photos as much as possible before the fog returns. We are really cold already, so we set off back to the parking lot, we are not at all laughing when we imagine the way ahead. Fortunately, we will reach the parking lot without deadly consequences and completely healthy.
