The second highest Mayan pyramid
The Pyramid of Cobá, like dozens of other Mayan pyramids in the Yucatan, is located in a rainforest that made it impossible for European centuries to discover it by European conquerors. As one of the few pyramids, it is freely accessible to tourists and despite its considerable height, or precisely because of that, it is very popular among tourists. It is located about 60 km from the seaside town of Tulum to the northwest.
The Pyramid of Cobá is a large complex of ancient Mayan buildings.
The rainforest, although dry due to lack of water, is everywhere.
After half an hour of walking, a pyramid of more than forty meters will appear in front of you. You have to go all the way back, but you can rent a bike or get a rickshaw ride. Older tourists use it a lot.
Along the way, you can also see various fragments of buildings that have been preserved only as separate monoliths.
