Batad is a village in the middle of the mountains, boasting with beautiful rice terraces. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Road to Batad

You can get to Batad by Jeepny – something like a local bus. Jeeps have no regular departures, they leave when they are full. If you catch nice weather, you can go on the roof and you have a super unconventional experience. There is no road leading directly to Batad, so the car will throw you about 3 km from the village, where you have to get on your own. After about 20 minutes walk on foot, you will reach the place

Upon arrival in the village, a wonderful view of the terraces created by the amphitheater awaits you. Upon arrival, an entrance fee must be paid, which the locals use to maintain and run the village.

Between the terraces

The terraces are large and the path itself, so if you want to walk between the terraces and not get lost, it is definitely good to pay a guide. The guides are from the ranks of the locals and you give the money directly to him at the end of the trip.

Behind the waterfall

Be sure to combine a trip on the rice terraces with a visit to the waterfall, where you can also cool off in the stifling weather.

How to grow rice

On the way between the terraces you will meet all stages of rice cultivation. And that there are a few of those steps. Definitely worth having the guide explain what stages the rice has to go through before it gets to your home
