The Jim Thompson Museum was home to James HW Thompson, an American businessman who founded the world-famous Thai silk company. Jim Thompson's business success during his 25-year stay in the Kingdom of Thailand gained him a lot of fame and he became known as the „Legendary American of Thailand“. During his life, he was credited with saving many of the original historic Thai buildings, including the houses of ordinary Thais. The end of his life is shrouded in mystery, as he disappeared on one of his expeditions to Thailand and no one has ever seen him again.

The tour of the museum takes about half an hour, but the house is located in the center of Bangkok, near the city center with shops.
