Hut Vyrovka is situated on the ridge halfway between Spindleruv Mlyn and Pec pod Snezkou with a nice view of the eastern part of the Giant Mountains. It is also an important junction connecting routes to Cerna hora (“The Black mountain”) or across Modre sedlo (“The Blue pass”) to Lucni bouda (“Meadow hut”). The way from Spindleruv Mlyn leads through Svaty Petr (“Saint Peter”) and really long Dlouhy dul (“Long valley”). This route is relatively not frequently walked considering the Giant Mountains conditions and you will meet here only a minimum other tourists out of season. The trail is about 6 kilometers long and elevation is 640 altitude meters.

Spindleruv Mlyn in winter

The trip begins in Spindleruv Mlyn (720 m asl). It is very bustling here in winter, mainly due to the onslaught of skiers. You will get to Vyrovka along green tourist path that rises steeply right at the beginning to the wooded ridge separating Spindleruv Mlyn from Svaty Petr.

Church of Svaty Peter and Medvedin

In the middle of a steep ascent you will come across the church of Svaty Petr (“St. Peter”) and a nice small wooden belfry. On the horizon you can see the top of Medvedin (1 235 m asl) with ski slopes.

Above Spindleruv Mlyn

At the end of the steep ascent, in the place where the path enters to the woods, is a meadow with a nice gazebo overlooking Spindleruv Mlyn and the hills surrounding him. It is an ideal place for a snack.

View of Lucni hora (“Meadow Mountain”)

After a few hundred meters through the woods, where is the path already rising significantly more freely, you will come to outlook point of Svaty Petr and Lucni Hora (“Meadow Mountain”) (1 556 m asl) – the second highest mountain in the Czech Republic, which dominates the horizon from the valley of Dlouhy dul.

Here's the crossroads. If you are heading to Vyrovka, you will slightly descent along the green route to Svaty Petr. Perhaps even more popular is the way through Kozi hrbety (“Goat ridges”) to Lucni bouda. It is marked in red and leads on along the contour line.

Svaty Petr

The way through Svaty Petr is mainly about the outlook of Lucni hora and the buildings nestled in the meadows above the road. This part leads along the road, so you will sometimes have to dodge the cars.

Through Dlouhy dul

After you say goodbye to Svaty Petr , you will enter to the forest and there will not be many views for a long time. The creek of Svaty Petr is here still relatively strong and its tributaries run quite fiercely down from the surrounding slopes.

View of Kozi hrbety (“Goat ridges”)

The way through Dlouhy dul is relatively not so steep from the beginning, but the walk in the forest seems subjectively long enough. Finally opens the view back to Kozi hrbety. The path leading below them is quite well recognizable even from here.

View of Cesky hrbet (“Czech ridge”)

The more is the end of the valley approaching, the path is steeper. On the other hand, the views are finally beginning to open, especially of Cesky hrbet (“Czech ridge”) with peaks Medvedin (1 235 m asl), Zlate navrsi (“Golden hillock”) (1 411 m asl ) and Kotel (1 435 m asl). You can also see well to Labsky dul (“the Elbe Valley”) and to the upland meadows with springs of the rivers Elbe, Mumlava and Pancava.

View of the southeast of the Giant Mount

You have finally finished the ascent and you're on the ridge right next to the hut Vyrovka. Before you is a stunning view of the southeastern Giant Mountains with dominating Cerna hora (1 299 m asl).

If you set off from Spindleruv Mlyn in the morning, then hut Vyrovka is an ideal stopover for lunch. There are several options to continue from here, so it is certainly not necessary to return the same way back.
