I recommend reserving enough days for the Ha Giang area in Vietnam, as this wonderful place is worth exploring. In this locality there are several circuits that can be ridden on motorcycles. Most often, the circuit is 320 km long, which lasts about 4 days. Unfortunately, we didn't have that much time, so I'm attaching photos only from what can be seen on the first 140 kilometers and in the immediate vicinity of Ha Giang.

Ha Giang city

What to see nearby before heading to the Ha Giang Circuit?

** Lung Tam market ** If you plan to visit Ha Giangu on Sundays, I recommend going to see the local market, which is open every Sunday until 10:00. Everything from vegetables to cows is sold there. ** Lung Khuy Cave ** Beautiful stalactite caves, who has not seen them in Vietnam, is definitely worth a visit. ** Ethnic villages ** Just a few kilometers from the city there are 2 ethnic villages. We visited here an ethnic village built on rice fields. The people here were very friendly, waving at us from a distance and shouting Hello. Maybe it wasn't the kind of hello we know from English, because as we later noticed, the word hello greeted each other and they didn't know English at all. However, we understood correctly that this is a greeting and that was enough for us :) ** Chinese border ** Since you are really close to the border, you can also go to see the border with China. Even though we only moved around the city, we saw so much beautiful nature that we never dreamed of. Probably the biggest impression I left was the village and nature in which these people live, their happy and at the same time extremely modest lives.

Just go a short distance outside the city and you can enjoy beautiful views.

Ha Giang Circuit

Classic circuit 320 km long

Among the travelers, the most popular circuit, 320 km long, is the most popular circuit. Probably because it only takes about 4 days. You can go on your own or use local guides. The start starts in Ha Giang, continues to Quan Ba, then to Yen Minh, then through the most beautiful part of the entire Dong Van circuit, Ma Pi Len Pass, to Meo Vac. Back, it is best to choose the option of crossing from below through Yen Minh and continue to the destination, to the city of Ha Giangu. For a better idea, I enclose a map below. If you do not want to return to Yen Minh, you can drive the whole circuit, which is about 800 km. You can go on the circuit with a guide, when you go organized with a group of people or go alone according to your plan. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. With a guide, you don't care about the route, accommodation or food. Without a guide, you can stop wherever you want and take a lot of interesting photos. The disadvantage is that you extend the time of the circuit, because you feel that this is where you take the best photo ever and a few kilometers away, the landscape forces you to record the beautiful scenery through the lens viewfinder. With this feeling you travel the whole circuit, so I recommend having enough memory cards and enough time to travel. In addition, without a guide, you can make your trip more enjoyable by taking trips off the main road to nearby ethnic villages, where you will literally be an attraction for the local population. You leave the city and for the first half hour you drive on a quite dusty and busy road, so most of the time you have your eyes closed because you have them full of sand. A helmet with goggles will solve this problem. Too bad we didn't know it before :) After about half an hour it starts to get interesting. You are under high rocks, which are covered with trees so much that they become an impregnable jungle. If one wanted to touch the rock itself, one would have to cut it. We didn't want it and so we went further up the hills. Thanks to the high climb, we got up quite quickly. As we found out above, we weren't quite that up because there were more mountains in front of us and then more. That is why I recommend not saving on the performance of a motorcycle and buying a stronger one. Nature is getting more and more beautiful and you are just enjoying the beauty of northern Vietnam. The photos will probably say more than a thousand words, so I'm attaching them to give you an idea of how breathtaking this place is. As for accommodation, in each of the above-mentioned cities it is possible to sleep in a hotel, hostel or homestay.
