To the main ridge of the Low Tatras

Prašivá is the last higher western peak on the main ridge of the Low Tatras. It is possible to ascend to it from Hiadel pass in relatively easy hike and as soon as we come out of the woods, we can enjoy wonderful views of all the mountains of central Slovakia.
Goat´s ridge (“Kozí Chrbát“)
If we walk from Donovaly, so we can walk over the Goat ridge (“Kozí Chrbát“), from where are nice views of Donovaly and Great Fatra (“Velka Fatra”).

View on Prašivá
From the Goat ridge (“Kozí Chrbát“) is visible also the beginning of the main ridge with Prašivá, which towers far above us.

Safrrons in Hiadel pass
From the Goat ridge (“Kozí Chrbát“) awaits us short but fairly steep descent into Hiadel pass. There are a lot of crocuses in early spring. This pass is a junction of paths and we can come here from both sides along the blue trail. From there begins the ascent to the main ridge.

The way through scrub pines to the top
The beginning of the ascent leads through the forest, which is gradually replaced by scrub pines. The path is in places a little hidden and high scrub pines still obstruct better views.

The first views
The first views are worth it, because view of the entire Low Tatras opens and in good visibility we can see in the distance the massif of King's Bald Mountain („Králova Hola“) that is away about 80 km as the crow flies.

Great Fatra (“Velká Fatra“)
During short period of time time we have at our fingertips Great Fatra and a substantial part of Liptov. Moreover, these views suggest that the peak is not far.

View of the southwest
Behind us we see the Goat ridge (“Kozí Chrbát“) and meadows around Kečka, where we were a few hours ago. Behind them on the horizon are then Kremnické hills (“Kremnické vrchy“).

The top of Prašivá (1 652 m asl)
Table with inscription indicates the first (insignificant) peak on the main ridge. On the distant horizon peek also Tatras peaks.

Chopok and Dumbier
Beautiful view from here is of the main part of the ridge and the highest peaks of the Low Tatras.

View of King's Bald Mountain („Kráľova h
In the distance we can see in clear weather the familiar majestic panorama of King's Bald Mountain ("Králova hola“) with the transmitter on the top. It is the last peak on the eastern end of the Low Tatras.

Continuation of the ridge
The path then leads farther to the north to the northeast in the direction to Great and Small Chochuľa (“Velká a Malá Chochuľa“).
