  • Flights: Most international flights arrive to Fiji at Nadi International airport.  There are a few flights to Nausori International Airport located about 23km northeast of Suva downtown too. Arrivals are often accompanied by playing guitars and welcome smiles, mostly offering you accommodation and travel services at the same time. Fijian departure tax is usually incorporated into the flight ticket.
  • Yachts: Yachts need to arrive to ports at Suva or Lautoka to clear the customs, immigration and so on. Yachts need to apply to the Ministry for Fijian Affairs for special written authorization to visit.Transport around Viti Levu

    Air

There are regular and quite cheap flights between Nadi and Suva.

    Land

Nadi and Suva are linked by Queens Rd (221 km) that runs along the southern perimeter of Viti Levu. There are a lot of resorts known as the Coral Coast around this road. The Kings Rd runs from Suva to the north through Nausori (where Suva´s airport is located), Rakirari, Ba and Lautoka. Express busses operate between Lautoka, Nadi, Suva along both the Queens and Kings Rds.

  • Minibuses shuttle along the Queens Road.
  • There are usually plenty of taxis. But be careful to agree the price in advance as they usually don´t use any meter.
  • Or you can travel by car/motorbike. You need to have driving license from an English-speaking country. Otherwise an international driving permit is required.Transport from Viti Levu to neighboring islands

You can travel mainly by air or a boat.

  • Most airplanes land from Nadi or Suva from Nausori International Airport. However, airports are available only in bigger islands.
  • Ferries/boats mainly link Viti Levu with Mamanuca or Yasawa group. Motorboats called „Speedboat“ are probably the cheapest option. They cruise around various islands, where they pick up and get off tourists, so the cruise itself is quite interesting.
  • Other options include catamarans, helicopter or small airplane with floats.
  • Most tourists arrange the whole package or cruises from local travel agencies. There are plenty of them in Nadi and they will offer you services already at the airport, when you land in Fiji.
