As with any ridge there is not only one starting point, but there are many:
- The largest town under the ridge is Liberec – starting point to Ještěd
- Hodkovice nad Mohelkou lying in the middle of the ridge are ideal for walk to Ještěd and offer great variety of views
- Malá Skála: lying already in the Czech Paradise is a nice starting point to the outlook at Kopanina
- Jičín and Lomnice: starting points to Tábor, eastern end of the ridge
